Privacy and terms
Last updated November 6, 2026. This covers the Say It First website and Say It First Plus.
The short version
- No account needed. You can practice without giving us your name, email or phone number. If you make an account, it’s your email address and your plan, nothing else.
- We don’t keep what you say. Your voice goes from your browser straight to our AI provider so the other person can answer you, and the words of your rep go through our server to read the room live and to write your feedback, then they’re dropped. If you tap the mic in the box on the home page, what you say is turned into text (by your browser, or by our AI provider) and isn’t kept. Your reps are saved only on your own device, where you can switch that off or delete them.
- No ads or tracking. No advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. We count anonymous steps, like “rep started”, to see where people get stuck.
What happens when you practice
Voice reps. When you start talking, our server gives your browser a short-lived key, and your browser connects straight to OpenAI’s realtime voice service. Your audio goes to OpenAI, which turns it into the other person’s replies and a written transcript. It never passes through our servers.
Typed reps, Read the room and feedback. What you type, and the transcript of a voice rep (during the rep for Read the room, and after it for your feedback), goes through our server to OpenAI to write the reply, read the room or write your feedback. We don’t save it.
Help. If you send a note with Help, we get your message, the screen you were on, your browser and device type, and your email if you add it.
Your details and coach questions. If you add details about your real situation, or ask your coach a question after a rep, they go through our server to OpenAI with that rep, the same way. We don’t save them.
Hear yourself. During a voice rep, your browser keeps a copy of your side in its memory so you can play it back on the feedback screen. It’s never uploaded, and it’s gone when you start another rep or leave the page.
OpenAI. OpenAI says data sent to its API isn’t used to train its models, and that it keeps abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default (OpenAI: your data).
Free-rep counts. To count free reps, we keep a one-way scrambled version of your network address with a count for the day. It isn’t linked to anything you say.
Your reps, saved on your device. Each rep is saved in your browser so you can see your progress and your coach can remember you: your scores, the feedback, what was said, and any details you added. It stays on that device; it isn’t sent to our servers or kept by us. In Your reps you can switch off saving what you say, download everything, delete one rep or delete it all. Clearing your browser data removes it too. Your browser also remembers that you confirmed you’re 18 or older.
What your coach is told about past reps. With a rep or a question, the page sends a short summary made only of numbers and fixed labels (like how many reps you’ve done, your last score on that conversation, or “saying sorry” as a habit), never your words, so your coach can say things like “last time you...”. It’s used for that answer only and not saved.
The box on the home page. What you type there goes through our server to OpenAI once, to work out which conversation or coach fits. We don’t save it. Your share image is made on your device and only goes where you send it.
Step counts. The page adds one to a daily count when you reach a step (like opening a conversation, starting a rep or seeing your feedback), along with whether you’re in a regular browser or inside an app like Instagram or TikTok, and which of our posts the link came from if it has a tag like ?src=. No network address, device ID or anything you said is stored with it.
Accounts. If you sign in, we keep your email address, when you signed up, that you confirmed you’re 18 or older, and your plan. We send your sign-in codes, plan emails and reminders through Resend. Your reps, scores and words still stay on your device; your account doesn’t store them. For reminder emails, the account also keeps which conversation you last practiced and when, and the date of your real conversation if you set one (never what was said). Every reminder email has a one-tap unsubscribe, and you can switch them off in Account. You can sign out or delete your account in Account; deleting it cancels Plus and removes your email and plan from Say It First. If you had a free week, we keep a one-way scrambled copy of your email so it can’t start another.
Payments. Plus is paid through Square. You type your card into Square’s own form, so your card number never reaches Say It First. We keep Square’s ids for you, the card brand and last 4 digits, your plan dates, and a record of the renewal terms you agreed to (the exact words, the price and the time), which the law asks us to keep. With that record we keep the name on the card, the browser you used and a scrambled network address, and your account keeps the times it signed in, the steps you took in Account to start, change or cancel Plus (and the reason, if you chose to give one), and the charges Square made, so we can show a charge was yours if it is ever disputed. To keep the free week to one per person, we also keep Square’s fingerprint for the card, a random ID for this browser and a scrambled network address. Square’s privacy notice covers what Square keeps (Square privacy notice).
Our host. The site runs on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs, like any website host.
Terms
- Who you’re buying from. Say It First, 15950 Paramount Way, Frisco, TX 75033, help@sayitfirst.app. Charges usually show on your card statement as SQ *SAY IT FIRST.
- 18 or older. Practice is for adults.
- Practice, not advice. Say It First isn’t therapy, medical care, or legal or financial advice. The AI can be wrong, and its feedback is a practice tool, not a promise of how a real conversation will go.
- If you’re struggling. In the US, call or text 988 any time. If you’re in danger, call 911.
- Use it to get better, not to hurt anyone. Don’t use it to rehearse threats, harassment or pressuring someone. The AI won’t take part.
- Free reps can change. How many free reps you get, and what’s included, may change.
- Plus renews automatically. Plus is billed monthly or yearly, at the price shown before you pay, until you cancel. Your first Plus plan can start with a free week (on either plan, one per person, card and device). We email you 4 days before it ends; cancel before then and you aren’t charged. After every charge we email you a receipt with the next charge date and how to cancel. During the free week you get a smaller number of voice reps.
- Cancel anytime. Sign in, open Account and tap Cancel plan. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for and aren’t charged again. There are no refunds for part of a period. If you cancel during your free week, you can tap Keep Plus until the week ends, and Plus carries on at the price you agreed to.
- Offers and changes. When you cancel, you can choose to see a one-time offer: 50% off for 3 months on the monthly plan (during a free week it starts the day the week ends), then the regular monthly price, renewing until you cancel. Monthly members can switch to yearly from their next bill. Both show the new price and dates before you tap, and we keep a record of what you agreed to.
- What Plus includes. Plus includes 3 voice reps a day plus 60 extra voice reps a month, and up to 40 reps a day in all. The free week includes 3 voice reps a day plus 15 extra.
- As is. The service is provided as is, without guarantees it will always be available.
